Coimbatore: In a recent statement issued by Coimbatore District Collector Sameeran, it was an offense for ration card holders to sell items provided by ration shops to others.
This will lead to the sale of public distribution project products on the counterfeit market. He therefore said that if found selling ration items to others their smart card would be canceled and action would be taken against the person concerned.
There are a total of 1418 ration shops in Coimbatore district. This includes more than 10 lakh family cardholders. All of them have been issued smart cards. The head of the family or members of the smart card can go directly to the ration shop in their area and collect ration items biometrically.
Only persons with disabilities, the elderly and those who have been hospitalized due to illness who are unable to come to the ration shop can obtain the items through a certificate issued by the concerned clerk or circular issuing officer authorizing a person to receive the items for their ration card. But no one who is not on the smart card can get ration items.
In this case, are other non-family members currently purchasing items with the smart card on the instructions of the District Supply Officer Collector. The officials are monitoring if any of them are selling ration items to outsiders
A district supply officer said, "Surveillance has been intensified at all ration shops in the district. Ration shop employees have also been advised in this regard. And are ration items being sold on the counterfeit market by the flying forces? Is constantly monitored.”
