Coimbatore: Giri Kathirvel (54) is a farmer from Kinnathukadavu, Kattampatti, Coimbatore.
He had locked the house for the past two days and had gone to visit his relatives. Then when he came back in the night, he saw that his gold jewellery worth 14 sovereigns that was kept locked up in his cupboard was missing.
But it seemed as though the jewellery magically disappeared because the house was locked with no signs of breaking and entering. Confused, Giri Kathirvel lodged a complaint with the Negamam police. Based on the complaint, the police arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation.
When Revathi (32), a resident of Madurai district, who had been working at Giri Kathirvel’s house for the past month, was called by the police and questioned, she gave answers that raised suspicions. With further investigation, the suspect confessed to stealing gold jewellery worth 14 sovereigns after Giri Kathirvel left the house, using the keys that were left near the house. Following this, the police the gold jewellery worth 14 sovereigns from her, arrested her, and subsequently produced her in court. Following this, Revathi was released on court bail.
