Residents raise safety concerns over leaning electric pole in Vilankurichi

Authorities are yet to take action in spite of numerous complaints from residents

Coimbatore: Despite multiple complaints from residents and welfare organizations from Hindu Nagar, in Vilankurichi area in Coimbatore, authorities in charge are yet to take any sort of action in filing a formal complaint or take any action to fix the leaning power pole in the area.

Leaning electric poles, whether a consequence of man-made accidents, increased wind density, or wear and tear, are very likely to crack. It is within the expected outcome, that when it cracks, it takes down the entire transformer with it, which in turn could potentially cause severe damage to persons or properties coming in contact with it.

The resident welfare organizations of Vilankurichi whose objective is to prevent such potential disasters from occurring have lamented to the press about how no action has been taken to file an official complaint by the Electricity Board.

Concerned authorities have been asked to take action to avert any major accident.
