Amid the various pressures and demands for the health officer’s post in West Zone, Corporation Commissioner Raja Gopal Sunkara has appointed a new health officer for the zone.
Coimbatore Corporation has five zones. Zonal Health Officers are appointed to look after 20 wards within the respective zones. Shanmuganathan, a health officer who worked in the West Zone, retired on Feb 28 and many health inspectors tried in many ways to get the post. Huge pressures were exerted through the ruling party. Corporation Commissioner Rajagopal, who did not budge, named Health Inspector Paramasivam, who was waiting to be appointed on a seniority basis.
The West Zone Health Officer has been promoted and appointed as the Health Officer of West Zone. Additionally, the CCMC Commissioner removed Health officer Ramachandran from the North Zone and has appointed Radhakrishnan in the position as the garbage collection work in the zone remained slow in the areas, and garbage were found not collected even at 12 pm.
The Commissioner has therefore relieved Health Officer Ramachandran of the charge and given additional charge to Health Inspector Radhakrishnan.
