Man scammed of Rs 4 lakh in Coimbatore from individual guised as electric bike dealer

Coimbatore:The Coimbatore Cybercrime police are on the hunt for the person who swindled Rs 4,69000 from a 26-year-old, guising as an Ola Electric bike dealer.

Kishan Kaneria, (26), a resident of Syrian Church Road, R.S.Puram, Coimbatore runs a hardware business. Reportedly, a man contacted Kishan stating he was an employee for Oa Electric Bikes and would fetch him a dealership if Kishan paid a specified amount. Kishan was convinced stating that electric bikes were the future, as fuel prices continue to rise and the dealership will yield him fortunes.

Falling for the trap, Kishan paid Rs 4, 69,000 into a particular bank account. The scam took place in October last year. As no progress was made in this direction, Kishan inquired the Ola, the company. A representative from the company stated they never offered dealerships and none from the company took the advance cash.

Realizing the scam, Kishan Kaneria lodged a complaint with Coimbatore city police. Cyber Crime SI, Karuppuswamy registered a case and Inspector Dandapani has launched an investigation to nab the culprit.
