The Sulur police are investigating the accidental death of a man who fell into a 150 ft deep well while celebrating a friend’s birthday.
Coimbatore: A youth drowned to death after falling into 150 ft deep well in Coimbatore. Birthday celebrations of a friend unfortunately, ended in a disaster.
Senthil Kumar was from VOC Nagar of Tirupur. He is survived by two sons, Manikandan and Sivaprakash. Both worked for a private snacks company in the Sulur Muthukoundanpudur area of Coimbatore.
Reportedly, the duo had joined in for the birthday celebrations of a co-worker named Ganesh after work. The colleagues cut a cake on the compound wall of the well and celebrated his birthday and some were drunk.
Sivaprakash, who was hyped during the celebration, climbed the wall and fell into the 150 ft deep well accidentally. Others tried to rescue him by climbing down through the stairs inside the well.
Meanwhile, his fellow friends informed the fire service and Sulur police. The fire brigade rushed there, but Sivaprakasham was rescued dead. The fire brigade also rescued Manikandan who was trapped in the well.
The police then sent Sivaprakash's body to the Coimbatore government hospital for post mortem. Sulur police have registered a case in connection with the incident and are investigating.
