Coimbatore: The Accounts Division of Coimbatore Corporation is actively involved in devising the budget report for the year 2022-23 in Coimbatore Corporation.
The Coimbatore Corporation, like the center and the state, presents a budget every year in the Project Report. The Chairman of the Taxation and Finance Committee will discuss and finalize the report prepared by the Corporation Accounts Division at the meeting and hand it over to the Mayor in the House. The mayor will present it to the forum and give a speech on the budget.
The Mayor will release the status of the existing schemes and the new schemes will also be announced. The Corporation Commissioner released the budgets so far till 2022 since the urban local body elections were just held, after 2016.
Now that the Members of the Council have taken over as Mayor and Deputy Mayor, the 2022-23 Project Report will be released soon. The corporation's accounts division has now started work on it.
A region-wise demand report has been made from engineering, health, urban and educational sectors on works that should be done under each department and about the funds to be allocated. The status quo on the schemes announced last year from each sector has been demanded. The Coimbatore Corporation is looking forward to the Election Commission’s advice as it is obliged to select regional committee chairpersons and standing committee chairpersons before presenting the budget. This is because the chairman of the committee, elected by the budget, taxation, and finance committee meeting, will hand over the decision to the mayor.
With only 23 days to go before filing the project report, the election of a Chairman has come as a dire need.
