A man in his 60s died after a fire accidently broke out in his home and he could not douse it being drunk and the Vadavalli police have registered a case and investigated the accident.
Coimbatore: A 61-year-old man residing in Vadavalli, who was rescued with 50% fire burns succumbed to his injuries.
Mohandas, 61, was from Palakkad. He had been staying in Kasthurinaickenpalayam in Vadavalli after he separated from his wife, Vijayakumari, 49, who now stays in her parents' house in Palakkad. They had been separated for 15 years.
Mohandas is a habitual drinker and reportedly he had come back home last night drunk and went to sleep directly. A candle lit in the house suddenly fell down and Mohandas’ dress caught fire. As he was under the influence of alcohol he could not put out the fire, and his neighbours rushed to the rescue with 50% burns all over his body.
Mohandas, who was undergoing treatment at the Coimbatore government hospital succumbed to his injuries late last night. Vadavalli police are investigating the incident.
