The 22-year-old male youth who went missing after an auto-rickshaw driver was found dead in Kuniyamuthur has been nabbed and he admitted to killing the driver in an argument between the two under the influence of alcohol.
Coimbatore: A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of an auto-rickshaw driver in the city.
A youth was found dead with injuries on his body near Kuniyamuthur Sengulam in Coimbatore on 31st December last year. The Kuniyamuthur police recovered the body, registered a case, and were investigating the death.
The deceased was identified as Vasu of Kothagiri in Nilgiris district and was an auto rickshaw driver. Police continued to investigate the death and on suspicion, Mohammed Riaz (22) of Thiruvalluvar Nagar, Kuniyamuthur was caught and interrogated.
The male youth confessed to the killing of Vasu, pelting stones at him when the two men got into a dispute under the influence of alcohol. Police registered a case against him, arrested him, produced him before the court and lodged him in jail.
