The Tamil Nadu Minister for Electricity, Senthil Balaji stated that the DMK has once again exhibited its character by giving opportunities to commoners to serve in leadership posts.
Coimbatore: Minister Senthil Balaji stated that the Chief Minister chose commoners as Mayor and Deputy Mayor for Coimbatore, keeping in mind that they could address basic issues being much closer to the public.
“The victory is the result of the DMK Government's 9-month rule, a crowning glory,” exulted Minister Senthil Balaji after the swearing-in ceremony of the Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Coimbatore.
"Kalpana was elected unanimously with the public handing DMK a sweeping victory. She hails from an ordinary family, worked at a private company for a salary of Rs. 13,000 for 15 years. Her husband worked as a cab driver and then set up an e-service center. Even after her victory, Kalpana met the Chief Minister travelling in a bus," he added.
"The Chief Minister is providing a fund of Rs.1,000 crore for the development of Coimbatore district. He announced commoners as Mayor and Deputy Mayor because they know and understand the joys and sufferings of the people and hence we congratulate them," opined Minister Senthil Balaji.
"DMK has once again proved to the public that they always open doors for commoners, and hence the Ward No. 92 Taluk Secretary, Vetri Selvan was chosen for the Deputy Mayor’s post though certain big heads in the party eyed for the candidature. Though these are new to the forum, these people are close to the public and if the need arises, they will also be trained," reiterated the Minister.
