Kalpana Anandkumar becomes Coimbatore's First Woman Mayor.

At the indirect elections held today at the Victoria Hall here, DMK's Kalpana Anandkumar was elected as the Mayor for Coimbatore Corporation.


Coimbatore: Kalpana Anandkumar took charge as the First Woman Mayor of Coimbatore Corporation at the Victoria Hall on Friday.



Following the swearing-in of councillors on March 2, the DMK officially announced Kalpana Anandkumar as the Mayor candidate for Coimbatore Corporation, in Thursday.

The indirect election to the Mayoral and Deputy Mayor posts wereheld on today morning at the Victoria Hall. Kalpana was elected as the Mayor and Vetri Selvan as the Deputy Mayor.



Corporation Commissioner and Special Officer,, Rajagopal Sunkara congratulated Kalpana on the victory and handed her the victory certificate.
