A 22-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with hurling a petrol bomb at the Karpagam Complex theatres in Coimbatore, on the day of the Ajith-starrer ‘Valimai’ release.
Coimbatore: A 22-year-old boy has been arrested for hurling a petrol bomb at a movie complex in Coimbatore.
Even as fans crowded the Karpagam Complex theatres - Ganga, Yamuna and Kaveri - on the day of the release of the most anticipated Ajith-starrer, 'Valimai' on Thursday, a mysterious petrol bomb attack occurred.
Later, it was revelaed that Lakshmanan (22) of Palayamkottai, an Ajith fan has been arrested in Gudalur for hurling the petrol bomb at Karpagam Complex on 100 ft. road in Coimbatore. The Kattoor police registered a case and investigated the matter. Police examined CCTV cameras in the area and nabbed the culprit by tracing him with his two-wheeler registration number. The police arrested Lakshmanan who had taken cover in Gudalur.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a dispute between Lakshmanan and Naveen Kumar, a Hindu Munnani functionary who was selling 100 ticket for 1000-1200. Upon questioning Naveen Kumar, Lakshmanan was attacked by Naveen and his friends.
As an act of revenge, Lakshmanan and his friends hurled the bomb. While Lakshmanan has been arrested, the police are on the hunt for his four aides. Further investigations are being carried out.
