Flyover works at Avinashi road in Coimbatore impacts traffic, motorists uncomfortable over congestion

The commuters who use the Avinashi road are facing heavy distress as the flyover works have increased the traffic congestion and plethora of de-routes

Coimbatore: The bridge construction on Avinashi road has caused distress to motorists due to heavy traffic.

The Avinashi road in Coimbatore is a destination with a number of colleges, schools, hospitals (government and private), government offices, and it is a major route in the city for commuting. The Coimbatore International Airport is located on Avinashi Road.

A flyover is being constructed for about ten kilometres from Uppilipalayam to Goldwins on Avinashi Road, in progress now for more than a year. With most pillars nearing completion, the places where signals were placed were devoid of pillars, are now undergoing construction. Pillars are being constructed at the three-way junction signal next to Hope College. The three-way junction there leads to the government medical college and hospital, Thanneer Pandhal Tidal Park at Olympus Road. This has caused heavy inconvenience and traffic jam as vehicles have to pass through an area other than the place of work. In the last few days, vehicles have been stranded in a row for a distance of 5-km in both areas.

Government employees and students are not able to go to work, to schools, and to colleges on time and are suffering greatly.
