The newly-elected Councillors are presently being sworn in at the Victoria Hall in Big Bazaar Street, where the oath is being administered by the CCMC Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara.
Coimbatore: The swearing-in ceremony of the Members of the House is presently underway at the century-old Victoria Hall which was built in 1892 in Coimbatore. The Council members of Coimbatore Corporation are assuming charge after 10 years, with the oath being administered by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation Commissioner, Raja Gopal Sunkara.
Elected Members of the House are being sworn in on condition that they are bound by the High Court order. As of now, 22 ward members have taken their oaths.
Naveen Kumar, a member of Ward No. 5 took oath on the names of his parents and took charge in the name of God. Ward No.7 member Govindraj took the oath in the name of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin. 15th Ward Congress member Santhamani Pachamuthu took oath in the name of former PM late Indira Gandhi. Radhakrishnan Dheeran Chinnamalai, of KMDK and member of the 18th Ward took the oath on the name of Easan. 20th Ward DMK member Mariaraj took oath on the names of late Kalaignar Karunanidhi and M K Stalin.
