Public sector insurance unions protested at the United India Insurance Regional Office at Nanjappa Road, Coimbatore, putting ahead various demands including non-privatization government departments and to implement the pension scheme in 1995.
Coimbatore: Insurance union members staged one day strike in Coimbatore condemning privatization of the insurance sector.
Public sector insurance unions protested at the United India Insurance Regional Office at Nanjappa Road, Coimbatore, putting ahead various demands including non-privatization government departments and to implement the pension scheme in 1995. In this All India agitation, the demonstrators put forth the following requests, including,
1. The pay hike to be given from August 2017 should be given.
2. Government departments should not be privatized.
3. The pension scheme of 1995 should be implemented.
4. The family pension percentage should be increased to 30 and pension should be paid according to wage increases.
5. A 14% increase in the management's participation in the NPS project.
The Coimbatore regional insurance unions and the joint committee of the welfare unions including GIEAIA, AIIEA, NFGIE, GIOAIA, UIIOA, NICOA, OICOA, NIAOA, BVKS GIDOF, AIGIFWA, AIGISC/STEP, AIGISC/STGIEWA, BSEWASC/ST participated.
