After an unknown vehicle knocks down spotted deer to death near Kaniyur toll, forest department initiates investigation

A one-and-a-half-year old spotted doe (female deer) was crushed to death early this morning, 28th February, after an unidentified vehicle crashed on it near the Kaniyur toll plaza while the animal tried to get across the road.



Coimbatore: A female deer was killed in an accident near Kaniyur tollgate in Coimbatore on Monday, 28th Feb.

The forest department has initiated an investigation in connection with the death of a one-and-half-year-old doe, a female deer that was found dead with its head crushed near Kaniyur tollgate this morning.

Wild animals have started stepping into human bounds with the summer season commencing. The forest regions in Coimbatore are home to wild animals including peacocks, deer and wild boars. The animals trespass into the residential areas in search of food and water.



Early this morning, a one-and-a-half-year-old spotted doe was crushed to death on the spot when an unidentified vehicle collided with the animal while it was attempting to cross the road near the Kaniyur toll booth in Coimbatore.



The toll plaza workers informed the forest department immediately.

Locals are assuming that the deer could have de-routed to Kaniyur at night through Vagarayampalayam from Annur and noted that this is the first time a deer is killed in an accident.

The forest department has launched an investigation on the death of the wild animal.
