4 arrested for stealing cell phones during Karamadai Aranganathar temple festival

Four people, including a boy, have been arrested and eight cell phones confiscated for stealing cellphones during a raid on the Karamadai Aranganathar temple. Later, they were produced in court and imprisoned.



Coimbatore: Four people, including a boy, have been arrested and eight cell phones confiscated for stealing a mobile phone during a raid at Karamadai Aranganathar temple.

The flag hoisting ceremony began on February 11th at the Karamadai Arulmigu Aranganatha Swamy Temple, one of the most famous Vaishnavite temples in the Kongu region. The main event of the festival, the procession, took place on February 17.



The festival was attended by tens of thousands of devotees from different parts of Coimbatore district who visited the stadium and received blessings.

Complaints were received at the Karamadai police station following the theft of expensive mobile phones of devotees using the crowds to disguise. Karamadai police had registered a case and were conducting a serious investigation.

Following the investigation, four persons, including Jagadeesh (19), Karthik (21), Arun (19) and a boy from Mettupalayam area, were arrested and interrogated and found that they had the phones who’s IMEI numbers had been reported to be stolen.

The police arrested them and confiscated 8 cell phones from them. Later, they were produced in court and imprisoned.
