Acting upon a tip off of ration rice smuggling from Pollachi and it's surrounding areas to Kerala, revenue officials led by Inspector Gopinath conducted searches near Gandhi Ashram area near Anaimalai were ration rice was hoarded to be smuggled to Kerala.
In the exercise, when they intercepted a car the passengers of the car fled. Subsequently, when the car was inspected, it was found to contain 22 bundles of ration rice.
