Coimbatore:The locals in the Veerakeralam area next to Vadavalli have demanded action on a fellow resident who assaulted and killed a feeding dog brutally and dragged it along the road to dispose the body on Friday.
The CCTV footage of a man who killed a stray dog and dragged it on a road near Vadavalli in Coimbatore has surfaced on social media, giving rise to objections from animal lovers, animal welfare activists. The KRK Nagar in the Veerakeralam area, next to Vadavalli, is inhabited by many and the locals habitually feed the stray dogs in the area.These dogs have reportedly been a disturbance to the outsiders and thus they were reluctant to visit the street at night.
Allegedly, Balu, who lives in the same area, brutally attacked a dog that had recently given birth, with a stick and dragged it into the streets of the area. The scary scene which was caught on surveillance cameras has gone viral among the netizens and is receiving objection. Animal welfare activists have also demanded appropriate legal action against the person who committed this heinous act. They added that in case of such disturbances, it (the animal) should be properly handed over to the care homes and no one should commit such a heinous act.
