Coimbatore:Minister Senthil Balaji met the council members who won the elections in the city for DMK and its alliance. The Minister for Electricity, Prohibition and Excise, TN, met the Corporation, Municipality, Town panchayat Council Members in the consultative meeting.“Coimbatore’s need for basic amenities, which were ignored during AIADMK regime, under the DMK regime will be prioritized and the representatives have been directed to make a list of the issues during the meeting,” he stated to the press.
Senthil Balaji said that DMK has secured a 96% victory in the urban local body elections, and this belongs to CM Stalin.Adding that the representatives have been directed to make a list of the issues in their areas, during the consultative meeting, he stated that plans are being drafted for the next five years. The needs and queries will be obtained from the council members and special funds will be obtained from the government to implement projects throughout Coimbatore.
“We have achieved great success in Coimbatore district. During the last AIADMK regime, the funds provided for various schemes have been changed. An investigation is underway.”
The Minister said that the local polls have been conducted with transparency and the Chief Minister has been indifferent with Coimbatore to carry out welfare schemes. He mentioned that the CM Stalin has announced that sports competitions would be conducted on the occasion of his birthday and prizes would be awarded district-wise. He added the election results of Coimbatore were bound by the court’s verdict and he expected a positive one. Minister said that the first quarter of works for Suez has been complete and an investigation is underway with regard to it. While those contesting for the Mayor’s post are filing their nominations.
Senthil Balaji stated that Coimbatore was not AIADMK’s bastion, which is only an opinion of a few groups, and the city is now CM Stalin’s fort and this will be proved in the forthcoming assembly, parliamentary elections. When questioned about Aadhar linkage for power connection, Minister Senthil Balaji said that several new plans are being made including specific Aadhar linking. He added that no new power projects and distribution plans were made during the last AIADMK regime. The DMK government is working on the required power requirement for the next 10 years. Steps are being taken to generate solar power in the district. The first solar power plant will be set up in the Thiruvarur district, he informed.
He said development work is underway for the Electricity Board and 216 power substations will be set up this year. “Measures are being taken to provide electricity connections to one lakh farmers in one year and the already announced construction of 8905 transformers will be completed in the next 15 days.”
He stated that as far as the Electricity Board is concerned, the connection is being provided immediately and assured that power connection will be provided to the farmers even if they possess 3 to 4 farmlands. Adding that farmers are themselves are shocked at the working speed of power board, and said that the farmers who once yearned for free connectivity, are now enjoying the benefits.
