Coimbatore Corporation renovates council hall to house newly appointed Councillors and Mayor.

The renovation process of the Victoria Hall, where the Corporation council is held has neared completion, 99 percent, in order to accommodate the council as urban local polls have ended and the Councilors have been elected.


Coimbatore: Following announcement of results of the urban local body polls, the ongoing renovation work at the Victoria Hall of the Coimbatore Corporation has picked up pace. The work is 99% completed, say sources from the Corporation.

After 6 years, the urban local body elections were held in the State, on the 19th of this month and the results were announced on the 22nd. With the Councilors elected for the city, the election for Mayor and Deputy Mayor will be held on the March 4.



The newly appointed councillors for the 100 wards of the Coimbatore corporation will take their oaths on March 2. The hall, on the Corporation building has remained unused for the last six years since there was no elected council. Hence, repair and renovation works were kick-started immediately after the announcement of the local body elections.

The Victoria Hall, wihich will house the newly appointed council members is a pride of the city, said an ex-councillor reminiscing the old memories in the council hall.



Corporation commissioner, Rajagopal Sunkara ismonitoring the refurbishment works, at the facility.

The renovation works has been intensified and according to the Corporation Sources, 99 percent of the work has been completed.
