Coimbatore Corporation, which has 100 wards, recorded the highest voter turnout of 70.90 per cent in Ward 6. Similarly, the minimum voter turnout was at ward 44 with 38.06% and as many as 28 wards recorded less than 50 per cent voter turnout.
The percentage of votes recorded in the wards where candidates will likely be contesting for Mayor’s position were also low. 52.35% votes were recorded at Lakshmi Ilanselvi Karthik’s ward 52 and 58.25 per cent in ward 97 where Nivetha Senathipathi of DMK contested.
60.28% votes were recorded in ward 38 where Sharmila Chandrasekhar of AIADMKcontested and 61.51 per cent in ward 7, Kripalini of AIADMK contested.
