Flights to resume between Coimbatore - Sri Lanka by April after 2 - year gap

Airport sources say that it has been announced that air traffic between Coimbatore and Sri Lanka will be resumed from March 31.


Coimbatore: Flight services from Coimbatore to Sri Lanka are all set to resume by April after a two-year Covid pandemic gap, according to a tweet on the Sri Lankan airport official Twitter page.

Earlier, flights were being operated from Coimbatore International Airport to three foreign countries including Singapore, Sharjah and the Sri Lankan capital Colombo. The international flight services are now being operated only from Coimbatore to Singapore and Sharjah, due to the pandemic outbreak. A tweet on the Sri Lankan Airport’s official Twitter page has now hinted that the services between Coimbatore and Sri Lanka are expected to resume, which has subsequently brought joy to travellers.

Airport sources say, "It has been announced that the air traffic between Coimbatore and Sri Lanka will be resumed from March 31. However, it is more likely to start from the second week of April. These flights will operate three days a week. The sources also added that this shall be decided based on the rate of Covid infection-spread and if the number of cases are steadily declining, air service will be resumed between Coimbatore and Sri Lanka in April, as planned.
