Romanian citizen’s participation in DMK political rally in Coimbatore - visa likely to be revoked

Sources say MHA officials have decided to deport the Romanian national who came to Coimbatore on a business visa. He violated his business visa when he participated in a political campaign rally in support of DMK.


Coimbatore: Sources say MHA officials have decided to deport a Romanian man who came to Coimbatore on a business visa and in violation of 'visa' rules had campaigned in support of the DMK.

Negoita Stefan Marius(60) is from Romania. He came to Coimbatore on a business visa last month. Negoita Stefan Marius was campaigning in support of the DMK on the city streets of Coimbatore as the urban local election campaigns were heating up.

Wearing a political symbols and placards ofDMK around his neck, he rallied in support of the DMK in the Singanallur area, riding on buses and vehicles on the streets.

The involvement of a foreigner in campaign in Coimbatore caused a stir.

Many took pictures of it on their cell phones and spread it on social media.

As Stefan Negoita puts it, when I traveled by bus in Coimbatore I was surprised to find that conductors did not buy tickets for women.

When inquired about this, the recent scheme launched by Tamil Nadu government was revealed. The free travel plan for women was very impressive. He said that he subsequently campaigned in support of the DMK.

Following this, the Union Home Ministry offices in Chennai summoned Stefan Negoitato explain his involvement in visa violations and his political and election campaign.

Day before yesterday, he appeared in theDepartment for questioning. Authorities interrogated him for more than an hour. He was asked a variety of questions, including campaigning and he also answered all the questions.

His visa is said to have been revoked based on this investigation and he is likely to be deported back to Romania immediately.
