One-day boycott at Coimbatore Court on Feb. 18 commemorating Black Day in remembrance of advocates and police clash in 2009

Advocates at the Coimbatore Court boycotted work on Friday to remember advocates who were injured during the clash between lawyers and police in 2009, February 19.


Coimbatore: The advocates at Coimbatore Court boycotted work on Friday, in memory of advocates who were injured during the clash between lawyers and police on February 19, 2009 at the Madras High Court. Since then, the day is observed annually as 'Black Day' to protest against the attack on several lawyers.

Advocates in Coimbatore Court are on a one-day boycott this Friday since Courts will be on a holiday on Feb 19, this year, since it is a weekend. The Joint Action Committee of the Bar Association had decided to boycott Courts on February 18 instead.
