Based on a tip-off by BJP cadres, the Election Flying Squad has seized hot boxes meant for public distribution, worth ₹ 35,000 at Ward No. 80 in Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: The Election Flying Squad has seized as many as 1000 hot boxes meant for public distribution, worth ₹ 35,000 at Ward No. 80 in Coimbatore, based on the information given by BJP party men.
Reportedly, these hot boxes were placed in cardboard boxes and hoarded in a newly-constructed house in Ward No. 80, Ashok Nagar, Govinda Swamy Layout in Coimbatore Corporation for distribution to the public, in exchange for votes. BJP members informed the Election Flying Squad officer and the police about these hot boxes being stored in the house.
Subsequently, Arun, an election flying squad officer from the southern region of the city and the police rushed to the spot and seized the hot boxes.
The price of a hot box was printed at Rs.349.
A total of 960 hot boxes have been seized in 10 cardboard boxes which created a stir in the area.
