A 19-year-old boy working at a private hotel in Anaimalai has been arrested under the POCSO Act and subsequently lodged in prison for marrying a 17-year-old girl
Pollachi: An Anaimalai based teenager has been arrested and jailed under the POCSO Act for marrying a minor girl.
After the Anaimalai police received a missing complaint of a 17-year-old girl on the 7th by her parents they registered a case and launched a search for the girl. On 16th, Wednesday, the police received information stating the girl was in the Anthiyur area near Erode. Upon interrogation, it was revealed that the girl developed a relationship with a 19-year-old boy named Anand Kumar, who working in a private hotel in Anaimalai.
It was also revealed that he had married the girl at a temple near Palladam on the 7th. The police then rescued the girl and registered a case against Anand Kumar under the Protection Of Children from Sexual Offenses Act. The boy was produced before the Mahila court in Coimbatore and the police lodged him in Perundurai jail.
