Regional officers trained in Government College of Technology for the urban local polls in Coimbatore

The District Collector Dr GS Sameeran, Returning Officer Raja Gopal Sunkara were present at the training provided for the regional officers on elections at the GCT college in the city, supervised by the Coimbatore Election Observer M Govindarao


Coimbatore: The regional officers were trained at the Government College of Technology on usage of EVMs, provision of forms, equipment to be used on election on the 19th.

As many as 315 regional officers were trained on usage of E Voting Machines, provision of forms, equipment during election. The Coimbatore Election Observer M Govindarao presided the training. The District Collector Dr GS Sameeran, Returning Officer Raja Gopal Sunkara were present at the training provided for the regional officers on elections at the GCT college in the city, supervised by the Coimbatore Election Observer M Govindarao.



The urban local polls are scheduled on the 19th for the 100 wards of Coimbatore district. The EVMs will be provided to the polling station officers a day prior to the elections and the regional officers will personally receive the machines after the elections are over. Govindarao has also requested that the election officers should support in honest and transparent conduct of elections.

The vote counting centre at GCT, postal vote counting room, candidate agents, assistant vote counting officers rooms were inspected and he stated that the counting centre have to be equipped with CCTV cameras and added that the reporters have to be provided with necessary facilities on the day of counting.

Deputy Commissioner of Municipal Corporation M. Sharmila, Municipal Engineer (P) Ramaswamy, Regional Assistant Commissioners, Assistant Officers and Employees of The Corporation were present during the survey.
