The Coimbatore City Corporation is implementing the initiative in all five zones of the city.
Coimbatore: The City Corporation has taken up a new initiative of producing compost instantly using dry leaves and tree branches crushed with a wood crusher in all five zones of the city, which is used as manure for the same tree.
With intense heat sweeping across the city well ahead of summer, trees in the city are drying up without sufficient water, and dry leaves are also inconveniencing motorists on the roads. To provide a solution, these dry leaves and tree branches are now being crushed into particles using a mobile crusher and are also used as manure for the same trees.
A tractor and a wood crusher are stationed in all five zones of the city to implement this initiative.
A Corporation official said, "These tractors and machinery were bought in collaboration with a private organization to uproot trees during the Northeast and Southwest monsoons as a precautionary measure. It is now used to remove the dry tree branches and leaves.”
