Maheshwaran, a candidate contesting as an independent, in ward 32 of Coimbatore Corporation, was involved in collecting votes in his ward on Tuesday.
One of the natives from the ward stated that the sewerage in their area had not been cleaned for the past four months and is causing health hazards Maheshwaran took off his clothes and went down the gutter with his wife to fix the blockages.
He then went to all the houses on the street, issued notices, and collected votes for him. He promised to clean the sewers in all the 56 streets of the ward immediately if he emerges victorious in the elections.
All political party and independent candidates are engaged in a vigorous campaign with just four more days left for the election.
