Man questions youth for public nuisance in Coimbatore; dies during altercation

A 40-year-old man died in Podanur after a youth slapped him as a dispute arose when the former questioned him for creating a public nuisance.



Coimbatore: A 40-year-old man died in Podanur after a youth slapped him following a dispute.

Kandasamy, (40), of Konavaikkalpalayam of Podanur stopped and questioned a drunk young man who had been creating disturbances to the public. The drunk man, enraged amidst the argument, abused and slapped Kandasamy, leaving the latter to stumble and fall.

Unfortunately, Kandasamy died on the spot, and the murderer fled the place. The public informed the Podanur police about the corpse lying on the road. Investigations led to David Raja, (22), of the same area. Police arrested David and lodged him in prison. Kandasamy’s dead body was recovered and sent to the Government Hospital for autopsy.
