Coimbatore: A mob of 10 people attacked the house and car where the DMK members from Karur were staying at around 12.30 am on Sunday.
Police are conducting a serious investigation into the sudden attack on the house and car of Karur DMK cadre, who had arrived at the city for election work, at around 12.30 am on Sunday night.
The urban local body election campaign is in full swing, supporters of Minister Senthil Balaji, who is in charge of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam in Coimbatore have been deployed in all parts of Karur, Coimbatore district.
Reportedly, a 10-member team, led by Karur district agriculture team secretary Shanmugam were staying at a house near Sengulam, owned by Santhosh, a DMK candidate’s sibling contesting in ward 88 of Coimbatore Corporation.
A mob of 10 people suddenly pelted stones at the house and a car parked there around 12.30 am last night damaging the glass, windows, and car windshield.
The DMK Coimbatore district administrators rushed to the location and lodged a police complaint. The police went there and registered a case and are conducting a serious investigation into the persons involved in the attack.
There has been a lot of excitement in the area from midnight till morning due to the incident.
