A letter was written a few days ago to the Zoological Authority under the Tamil Nadu Forest Department to accept the maintenance of the VOC Zoo on a revenue sharing basis, as this will allow the forest department to build structures on the same site and manage the park.
Coimbatore: A letter written by the Coimbatore Municipal Zoo to the Zoological Garden Authority under the Tamil Nadu Forest Department, there has been a demand for the Forest Department to manage the park at the same location without relocating it.
Accreditation for the zoo was recently revoked by the Union Zoological Authority for VOC Park in Coimbatore. Following this, a letter was written on behalf of the Corporation administration to the Zoological Garden Authority under the Tamil Nadu Forest Department to maintain the park. In addition, there is a growing demand for the park to be developed and managed by the Forest Department.
An official from the Coimbatore Corporation said, 'The zoo in Tamil Nadu is maintained under the administration of the corporation only in Coimbatore. A report on the maintenance of the zoo is required to be submitted to the Union Zoological Authority from time to time. Corporation employees cannot be expected to specialize in such an environment following the guidelines of the Union Zoological Commission. After all the deliberations, a letter was written a few days ago to the Zoological Authority under the Tamil Nadu Forest Department to accept the maintenance of the VOC Zoo on a revenue sharing basis. In this case, the forest department can build structures on the same site and manage the park, or relocate the animals and birds in the park. No clear conclusion has been reached on this. It is everyone's wish that the forest park is reopened in the same place.'
