Coimbatore: With the forthcoming urban local government elections in Tamil Nadu on the 19th, work has begun to attach symbols to electronic voting machines in the Coimbatore district. Electronic voting machines are inspected, repaired, and sealed.
Upon completion of these works the District Collector, the Commissioner of the Corporation and the Election Supervisors will inspect and take them to the respective polling booths. Until then are to be kept safe. Surveillance cameras are installed around the room where the machines are kept and the premises are constantly monitored.
A total of 2,312 polling booths have been set up in Coimbatore with 1,290 polling booths for 100 wards, 632 polling booths for 33 municipalities and 390 polling booths for 7 municipalities.
