Coimbatore: The day before yesterday, an Islamic student at a college in the state of Karnataka was seen wearing a hijab when some students walked behind her wearing saffron and chanted the slogan 'Jai Shriram'. The video of the woman walking alone chanting "Allahu Akbar" has been widely reported on social media since yesterday.

A section of various organizations including SDPI, Thanthai Periyar Dravidar Kazhagam and Adithya Tamil Peravai chanted slogans condemning the incident, the Karnataka government and asked not to inculcate sectarianism in the hearts of students, protect student wealth from sectarian fascism and not to make India a saffron bouquet. One of the protestors said that Ambedkar's constitution of India was to protect women, her right to dress, her faith and asked who are we to ban her from the country? They raised slogans carrying banners.
