AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam campaigned in Sivananda Colony supporting the candidates contesting the urban local body elections on behalf of AIADMK in Coimbatore district.

Candidates contesting for AIADMK in Municipal Corporation, Municipalities and Town Panchayats, and AIADMK MLAs from Coimbatore district participated in the event.

OPS stated that unlike AIADMK’s excellence in handling the covid situation, the DMK government had not handled it properly and questioned if Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam give any schemes and assistance.

He said that the 10-year tenure of AIADMK has been a fathomless success in 50 years and benefits were passed on to the public, not just in Coimbatore but for the whole state. He informed that the former Chief Minister and AIADMK party president, Jayalalitha was the one to receive GO receiving verdict from the Supreme Court on the Cauvery issue.

He alleged DMK of making false promises during the assembly elections’ campaign and failed to fulfil the 505 promises they made accusing them of betraying the people. He questioned on several factors including, the promise to ban NEET first thing, but is still stranded, the loan waiver if 5 sovereigns of gold are pawned.

“50 lakh people pawned jewellery and now they are examining who is eligible. 37 lakh people have lost livelihood pawning jewellery. Now the state only 13 lakh people are eligible.”

OPS stated that the public is enraged at the failure to provide women Rs 1,000 rupees and demanded that MK Stalin has to provide Rs 5000 Pongal assistance and he reminded that the AIADMK provided Rs 2500, during their regime.

Addressing the provision of the Pongal gift hampers, he alleged DMK of purchasing goods from the North and criticized the quality of the products provided. He said the inquiry into the quality of Pongal gift items has proved to be true.

He stated that it was Jayalalitha who made Periyar's dream come true and it was she who brought 50 percent reservation in local bodies. Adding that AIADMK would take over all municipal corporations, municipalities, and town panchayats in Tamil Nadu he expressed that the public have understood AIADMK’s regime was ‘the best’.

OPS stated that the victory in urban local polls was assured and that the party lost due to a minor collapse in the assembly elections. He called that a healthy environment has been created by the AIADMK and the party has its duty to support candidates. OPS said that people are ready to support Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam.

Calling the Kongu region a steel fort to date, he highlighted the schemes implemented by J Jayalalitha and Edappadi Palanisamy.

“Jayalalithaa has got the thoughts of Periyar, Anna and MGR together. She was the one who brought in the welfare schemes to the people and built 5.5 lakh houses for the people, and these schemes are forever etched in the minds of the people.”

He said the Edappadi Palanisamy-led government continued to carry out Jayalalithaa's schemes, and Jayalalithaa had come up with several schemes such as free 100 units of electricity, free electricity for weavers and allocation of one-third of the tax revenue to education.
