In a golden act of kindness, the Head Constable of the Railway Police Force, secured an unclaimed bag which contained valuables like gold ornaments and cash among others, and returned it to its rightful owner after due verification.
Coimbatore: In a golden act of kindness, the Head Constable of the Railway Police Force, secured an unclaimed bag which contained valuables like gold ornaments and cash among others and returned it to its rightful owner after due verification. The incident occurred on Wednesday at the Coimbatore Junction.
While doing the rounds of platform #3, at the railway station here, Head Constable P. V. Jayan’s attention was drawn towards an unclaimed piece of luggage, a bag, which he secured and took to the RPF premises. The constable verified the credentials of the passenger and the passenger owner of the bag was contacted over the phone.
The bag belonged to R. Hema Kumar, a resident of Khadhi Colony in Tirupathi. The passenger owner of the bag confessed to the officials that he forgot the bag at the Coimbatore Junction when he was travelling from Coimbatore to Renigunta on train 22816.
To be sure that the bag is indeed being handed over to its rightful owner, the officials asked its owner to identify the bag, which Hema Kumar did. Thus, the bag with its valuable contents was handed over to its owner and acknowledgement of the same was received.
According to reports, the bag contained a total valuables, including cash valued at Rs.1,36,000. The piece of luggage that was reportedly left behind contained ear rings, necklace, forehead ornament made of gold and four debit cards.
