2 arrested, 18 kg ganja seized in Coimbatore

The Periyanaickenpalayam police have arrested two men for possession of ganja and subsequently seized 18 kg of ganja from the duo.


Coimbatore: Coimbatore City Police have arrested two persons in connection with possession of ganja for the purpose of illegal sale.

The Periyanaickenpalayam Police Inspector, Kannan received a secret tip-off on ganja being smuggled, based on which a special police team led by Sub-Inspector Murali launched a vehicle search near Kattanji Hill regions.

Two men on a two-wheeler attempted to escape during the vehicle search. In a dramatic chase, the duo was caught and their contradictory replies led the police to take both men to the police station for further investigation.

The two men were identified as Ram Prakash (19) of Tenkasi Idaikal region and Saran (20) of Ooty who were staying in Vanjima Nagar in Periyanaickenpalayam. Ram Prakash and Saran had been carrying 18 kg of ganja in a sack for illegal sale.

The police seized their two-wheeler, the 18 kg of Ganja, and arrested them. The two were produced in Court later.
