Coimbatore: An independent candidate contesting the urban local polls from Ward No. 34 in the city, played the harmonium while campaigning for votes from door-to-door.
Candidates have once again resorted to creative ways of garnering votes.
Maheshwaran, who is contesting in Ward No. 34 was involved in collecting votes playing Harmonium.
He campaigned for votes from door-to-door in the Kannappanagar area and assured that sanitation workers' demands would be met, street lights would be provided to areas without street lights and there would be immediate removal of garbage from the areas.
Maheshwaran also promised that he would meet the people of the Ward once a week to hear the grievances of people and take measures to resolve their petitions.
The urban local body elections will be held on February 19 and candidates of all parties as well as independent candidates are involved in intensive campaigning in the city.
