Coimbatore: City Police Commissioner, Pradip Kumar on Tuesday, February 8 issued orders to book all three accused of the church idol vandalising issue under Goondas Act. While one of the accused was booked and imprisoned on January 26, the other two were arrested and imprisoned on January 28.
The arrested, Hindu Munnnai workers Madankumar (23) alias 'Milky', Deepak and Marudhachalamurthy alias Murthy were already booked under various sections - section 295, 427 and 448 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) for vandalising the shrine and statue of St. Sebastian at the entrance of the Holy Trinity Cathedral, Ramanathapuram, on January 23.
As their act is deemed to have threatened communal harmony and peace, the City Police Commissioner has passed orders to book the trio under Goondas Act. The order has been intimated to the accused in the prison. Another accused in the case, a 16 year old boy has been sent to Juvenile home. 9th of February, and the parties, independent candidates are involved in intensive campaigning in the city
