Pollachi: The Pollachi police have arrested a 20 year-old boy under the POSCO Act for allegedly marrying a 17-year-old girl, based on the complaint by the girl’s parents.
A 17-year-old girl from a village near Anaimalai was reported missing by her parents at the Aliyar police station on April 21, 2021. Based on the complaint, the police who launched a search for the girl got information that the girl was taken and married by Siva, (20), of Kallakurichi district.
A few days ago, it was reported that he had come to a village near Anaimalai with the girl. The police rushed to the spot and rescued the girl. Siva was subsequently arrested and a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act, POSCO Act was registered against him.
He was produced before the Mahila Court in Coimbatore and jailed.
