Codissia Defense Innovation and Incubation centre (CDIIC) will sign MoU in this regard.
Coimbatore: CODISSIA Defense Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre (CDIIC) Director, Ramesh Babu, in a press release announced that "The DGQA Facilitation Cell at CODISSIA, in Coimbatore which was created on May 22, 2020 and has been functioning at the city office building since June 1, 2020 has helped CDIIC identify 124 products from various DPSUs that will be indigenized.
CDIIC is getting into an MoU with various DPSUs like BHEL, BEML, HAL, BDL, AVNL and OLF. Total value products that will be indigenized at CDIIC - DIH is Rs. 143 crore in the next two to three years. These MoUs will benefit our Coimbatore MSMEs and regional industries, and help them transform into a defence vendor. CDIIC founded by CODISSIA will create a common development facility with the help of DIO, which will provide necessary facilities for product development and manufacturing."
"CDIIC – CODISSIA Defence Innovation and Atal Incubation Centre – is a Section 8, not-for-profit company, established under the Companies Act, 2013, by its founding association – CODISSIA in the year 2019, with the aim of bridging the gap between the Defence forces and the skilled vendors of the Coimbatore region through the Defence Innovation Centre (DIC) and providing the required support to the Startups/entrepreneurs through the Atal Incubation Centre (AIC)," added Ramesh Babu.
The CDIIC Director proudly stated that CDIIC adorns the prestige of being declared the "First Defence Innovation Hub in India" by Nirmala Sitharaman, the then Defence Minister, on January 20, 2020 and was formally inaugurated on October 28, 2020 by Dr. Ajay Kumar, Secretary – Defence. "CDIIC is the only organisation to operate both as an AIC (supported by Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog) and a DIC (supported by iDEX - Innovations for Defence Excellence, DIO).
Our vision is to ensure that at least 32 start-ups graduate from the Incubation Centre over a period of five years; to develop Coimbatore into a leading Defence Manufacturing Hub within the next 10 years and become import substitution partners to the Defence forces. Our mission is to achieve our objectives through effective utilisation of the Innovation and Incubation facilities, combined with the support from Defence Innovation Organization, Atal Innovation Mission, Academic Institutions of repute, Mentors and MSMEs of this region," reiterated Ramesh Babu.
