The Anaimalai police nabbed a man for the illegal sale of banned ganja during a patrol at the Ambarampalayam area on Sunday, upon the orders of SP Selvanagarathinam.
Pollachi: The Anaimalai police have arrested a man for the sale of banned ganja in Pollachi on Sunday.
On the orders of Coimbatore District Superintendent of Police Selvanagarathinam, Anaimalai Inspector Harikrishnan, Sub-Inspector Chinnakamanan and team of police officials were patrolling near Ambarampalayam on Sunday night.
The patrol officers caught hold of Vanjiappan's son Muruganantham of Ambarampalayam who was carrying a bag. The bag was found to contain 2 kg of ganja and police investigations revealed that the banned substance was meant for sale.
Following this, the two kg of ganja was seized and Muruganantham was arrested for possessing ganja. The Anaimalai police are investigating.
Strict action is being taken against those selling tobacco gutkha ganja, which is banned by the Government of Tamil Nadu. And the public is also directed to contact the city police in case they come across such illegal activities.
