A woman candidate who had filed her nomination to contest in ward no.39 of Tirupur alleged that she was denied a chance to contest despite taking part in the interview and the seat was allotted to another candidate
Tirupur: The AIADMK candidate introductory meeting in Palladam did not go as planned as a woman argued that she is not given an opportunity to contest in the local urban body elections, despite taking part in the interview.

The AIADMK candidates for the urban local polls were introduced in the meeting held at a private hostel at Palladam in Tirupur district. The meeting was attended by the former minister Udumalai Radhakrishnan MLA and Palladam AIADMK MLA MSM Anandan.
A total of 17 candidates contesting the Tirupur Municipal Corporation elections in Palladam constituency and another 17 candidates contesting from the Palladam Municipal Elections were introduced. The meeting had in attendance more than 100 people, including city and union officials.
Reportedly, a woman candidate who had submitted an application for the post of Councillor for ward no.39 Tirupur Municipal Corporation, Manonmani, created a ruckus suddenly in the midst of the meeting, alleging that she was denied the opportunity.

She stated that 5 women including her were denied chances to contest. This caused a commotion. The woman after venting out and walked out of the scene.
Shocked, AIADMK Palladam MLA MSM Anandan and party functionaries pacified her. The incident caused a commotion and excitement. The AIADMK, MLAs and party functionaries left the venue in a hurry.
