The candidates are busy filing nominations for the urban local body elections as they are scheduled to complete the Friday. Jyoti Maheshwari is contesting for the post of Councillor on behalf of the Tamil Nadu Youth Party in Ward 9 of Tirupur Corporation.
An amount of Rs 4000 as election deposit to contest for the post of Municipal Councillor was paid in coins by candidate Jyoti Maheshwari.

She paid 20 rupees and 10 rupee coins to the Corporation's First Zonal Office while she filed her nomination papers. Moreover, the candidate said that in most places, ten rupees twenty-rupee coins are not purchased even though RBI has released them. To create awareness, she issued the coins to the Regional Office, Tirupur Corporation.
She added that the government should also create awareness about the same.
