Nilgiris: A lone elephant roaming on Kotagiri Road has been triggering fear among the tea workers and motorists.
Animals including bears, wild gaurs, leopards, and wild elephants roam the roads in Coonoor, Kotagiri, and the surrounding areas in Nilgiris district.
Recently, a lone wild elephant that has been found frequently strollingin tea plantations in the Kilthattam Valley, Mullur and Manamaram neighbourhoods near Kothagiri has been troubling the motorists and the workers, who find it difficult to use the area.
Highlighting an earlier incident where the lone wild elephant has twice blocked and attacked a government bus both during the day and night, the people of the area have demanded immediate action to drive the elephant into the dense forest.
