Valparai: The urban local body elections, 2022, is to be held in a single phase in Tamilnadu on the 19th of February and the list of eligible voters in Valparai has been released.
Valparai is a tourist destination and pockets like Valparai Town, Solaiyar Dam, Rottikadai area, Bazaar etc. are inhabited by the public and they earn a livelihood from tourist arrivals. Valparai Municipality has 21 wards currently with a total of 58,556 voters. There are 28,744 male voters, 29,810 female voters and 2 votes from the transgender community.

Out of 21 wards in Valparai, 1,4,9,10 wards have been allotted for general candidates and 2,5,14,21 wards have been allotted to women (general) candidates, 6,7,8,13,16,18,20 wards are reserved for Adi Dravidar women candidates and 3,11,12,15,17,19 wards have been allotted for Adi Dravidar general candidates.
Valparai is a major tea plantation industry where most estates are private-owned and also by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The tea plantation workers are staying and working in a residential area under the management of the estate. Valparai region is home to a large number of wild animals like elephant, tiger, leopard, wild buffalo, etc.
