Coimbatore: The city police are on the lookout for the accused who ran away from the GH here.
Gajendran of Salem was arrested in 2020, in connection with the burning of four temples in Coimbatore, and was subsequently lodged in the city central jail. Reportedly, the accused was admitted to the Coimbatore government hospital for treatment due to illness a few days ago and he contracted the coronavirus infection. He was subsequently admitted to the Corona Special Treatment Unit at the Government Hospital, here.
A complaint was lodged with the racecourse police about the prisoner's escape from the treatment unit early Sunday morning. Police have registered a case on the complaint and are investigating.
