The Tirupur district collectorate witnessed tense moments as a middle-aged woman tried to kill herself out of fear, as she was threatened by an old friend.
Tirupur: A woman tried to kill herself at the Tirupur Collectorate premises, stating that as she was harassed and threatened by an old friend, she decided to take the extreme step.
Sudha of Tirupur Ammapalayam is a divorcee living with her two children at her parents' home. Reportedly, she developed a friendship with Palani Kumar, general secretary of Bharat Munnani, but cut off contact on learning his character.
However, Palani Kumar continued to harass her and he threatened to post obscene comments about her on Facebook. Unable to take the pressure, the woman attempted the extreme step.
The police, who were on duty at the premises, stopped and took her to the Tirupur South police station for questioning.
The Tirupur South police are interrogating Sudha and Palani Kumar in connection with the incident.
