Coimbatore: With only 10 flights operated every day at Kovai International Airport, air traffic has considerably reduced due to the third wave
The public has reduced traveling due to the fear, both in the domestic and international sectors. This has forced many airlines to cancel and suspend some of their services. On average, 35 flights were operated from the Coimbatore International Airport, before the pandemic outbreak, while, post the third wave, it is slightly low.
As of December 2021, 25 planes were operated every day. But the Covid- 19 third wave outbreak has once again affected the flight operations and presently each day only 10 flights are operated. Among these one or two services were also canceled.
Only five services are provided in the domestic sector at Coimbatore. Flights are operated to Chennai, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru. In the International sector, only two services are provided, viz., Sharjah and Singapore.
